Why we are here
The problem this site exists to solve
People overbuy compressed air, constantly and expensively. The reason is structural rather than anyone's fault: compressors are shopped by tank gallons because gallons are easy to put on a shelf label, and gallons are storage rather than capability. A 30-gallon tank on a 3 CFM pump still cannot run a 5 CFM tool.
Meanwhile the sizing math that would prevent the overbuying is split between two audiences and served well to neither. Industrial suppliers write it for commercial buyers with shift-long duty cycles. Consumer buying guides reduce it to one rule-of-thumb sentence and then recommend compressors without checking their own picks against it.
So this site does the arithmetic in public. Published demand figures for every tool class with the source attached, the duty cycle beside each one, a margin formula written out in full, and a calculator that shows its working. Then we recommend the cheapest thing that clears the bar, and we name what it cannot do.
The structure
What is actually on the site
54 content pages across 7 sections, covering 24 tool classes with cited air-demand figures and 29 products whose specifications come from the manufacturer's own page and nowhere else.
The CFM and sizing section is the heart of it, and it is deliberately built before and beneath everything commercial: the dataset that powers our air tool CFM chart also powers the calculator and the can-run verdict on every single product pick. One dataset, used everywhere, so the site cannot contradict itself. If the chart says a die grinder needs 6 CFM, every compressor page applies 7.5 CFM as the bar automatically.
The hoses and air prep section exists because it was the abandoned space in this category. Hose diameter, coupler patterns, water traps and regulators get a sentence each in most setup guides, and they are where most of the real frustration in a home air system lives. Fixing a 1/4-inch kit hose is the cheapest meaningful upgrade in a garage and almost nobody tells you.

Who publishes it
Psi & Hose is published by Magoo Media Group, an independent publisher whose hub is at magoomediagroup.com. There is no parent media group behind that, no editorial board, and no team - and we would rather say so than imply a masthead that does not exist.
The editor and author of every page is Ryder M.. Every article, roundup, comparison and guide on this site carries that byline, and the Person schema on this page names the same human the byline does.
You can reach us at contact@psiandhose.com. That is the only contact address on the site. There is no phone number and no postal address, because we do not have either in any form that would be useful to you - and inventing them is the sort of thing this site exists to be the opposite of.
Stated plainly
What we do not do
- We do not bench-test products. No compressor, tool or hose on this site has been used, timed, torn down or measured by us. Every specification is the manufacturer's published figure, linked.
- We do not claim credentials. There is no trade license, certification or stated years of experience behind this site, because there is none to state.
- We do not publish reviews or testimonials. There are none - this is a new publisher with no customers - and fabricating them is the fastest way to destroy the only thing a site like this has.
- We do not publish prices. There is no live price feed here, and a figure that might be months stale is worse than no figure. Every buy control sends you to check the current price at the retailer.
- We do not invent numbers to fill a gap. Where a manufacturer publishes no noise figure, no duty cycle or no weight, the page says not published. Seven of the sixteen compressors we catalog publish no dBA figure at all.
Funding
How the site makes money
Affiliate commission, from the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click a buy link here and purchase something, we earn a commission from the retailer at no extra cost to you. That is the only revenue.
It does not affect ranking order, and the site's structure makes that checkable rather than merely asserted. Picks are ordered by the cheapest unit that clears a job's published demand, which is why the tire page recommends a 12V pump over a compressor, several pages recommend an electric tool we earn nothing on, and multiple pages have a section explicitly arguing you should spend less.

Corrections
If we get something wrong
Email contact@psiandhose.com. Specification errors are the most likely kind - manufacturers revise spec sheets and our figures are dated to September 2026 - and they are the easiest to fix if you tell us which page and which number.
Corrections are made on the page and the modified date is updated. We do not change dates for cosmetic edits, because a freshness date that moves without the content moving is a lie told to a crawler.
